The Mummy is on of Karloff’s best, not simply a ‘monster’ movie. Interesting stuff! Old Dark House is great fun but check out The Black Cat too if you can, another fantastic pairing of Karloff & Lugosi.

I'm definitely going to continue watching more movies after Universal Horror Month, and The Black Cat will be one of them. 👍

The Black Cat (1934) is a fun and very strange movie. The story is kinda nonsense, but that's easily forgiven.

Great review Jamie! You’re spot on about that opening scene. Looking forward to your collab with Harry!

Thanks, Sean! Hopefully my collab with Harry will prove to be lots of fun for everyone, lol.

Great review! I didn't know that about Freund, he sounds like a total creep. Never seen The Old Dark House, so looking forward to your review!

Thanks, George!

Yeah, finding that out about Freund was disappointing, but not surprising.

Firstly, I think you're going to LOVE The Old Dark House.

Secondly, this is such a great review! I feel like I really learnt a lot here - super research. Writing like this is a horror fan's dream, Jamie. I do enjoy the various iterations of The Mummy quite a bit.

Thank you, Harry! So glad you enjoyed it! I'm definitely going to check out the other Mummy movies, they look like a lot of fun, too.

I'm really looking forward to The Old Dark House, I've heard only good things about it.

Nice analysis. Like you I prefer The Mummy to Frankenstein. Even going forward, I always feel the “Egyptian vibe” offers more dark corridors to transverse than can be done with Frankenstein. I enjoyed the pictures you provided and must make some time to watch it again. Thank you.
