Universal Horror Month: Wrap Up!
I bid you farewell...
Well, Universal Horror Month is over! I have to say, I’m rather pleased with myself for coming up with this project (even if it was a rip off of inspired by Hellish Views - Harry Evans’ Johnuary and Kyle Ryan’s Spring of King), because I:
Discovered four awesome movies.
Discovered some wonderful actors whose filmographies I need to explore. (I love you, Dwight Frye!!)
Got to collaborate with one of my favourite writers on Substack, Hellish Views - Harry Evans!
Got to read some great contributions from George R. Galuschak and Horror Hangouts!
Had a total fucking blast!
Ranking

Now, here’s my ranking of the four films I watched in the order I enjoyed them:
The Old Dark House
Dracula
Frankenstein
The Mummy
My time with Universal horror isn’t over, though. I am going to continue watching and writing about these films. I have some mini reviews planned (Bride of Frankenstein is next and I’m really excited about it!), and some more in-depth essays in the works, too.
Scores
Since I scored The Old Dark House using Harry’s system, I thought I’d do the same with the other three films. Harry very kindly gave me permission to use his scoring table, so here we go:
Dracula:
Total score: 17/23
Frankenstein:
Total score: 17/23
The Mummy:
Total score: 16/23
The Old Dark House:
Total score: 18/23
And this is your friendly reminder to add your own scores to Harry’s reviews. It’s fun, I promise!
Links
And finally, here are the links to my posts for Universal Horror Month, as well as the posts of other contributors, just to have them all in one convenient place:
Mine:
Others:
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) by George R. Galuschak
The Old Dark House (1932) - Part #2 by Hellish Views - Harry Evans
Anyway, I just wanted to quickly wrap this month up and thank you all for joining me. Who knows, maybe I’ll do themed months more often. We’ll see. 😉

Just now discovering this & will read all. The Old Dark House is a late favorite of mine too. The whole thing is entertaining but the dinner scene cracks me up every time, though it was probably fairly accurate for the era portrayed.
It was a terrific series you did. I was nonored to be a part of it.
